Mufi Hannemann at the Akamai Executive Lecture Series. Over 90 HTM students attended the November 9 presentation by Mufi Hannemann, President & CEO of the Hawaii Hotel & Lodging Association and former Honolulu Mayor. They appreciated his engaging insights into Hawaii's tourism and hotel industry, including the challenges ahead from continued arrivals growth and diversification of accommodation types with players like Airbnb.

HTM 370 Class Field Trip to Convention Center. Students and faculty from the Meetings & Conventions class visited the Hawaii Convention Center on October 25 to tour the facilities and meet with HCC executives. It was a great learning experience and our hosts offered some wonderful insights into selling, planning and managing large groups. The back-of-house and kitchen meeting with the executive chef were especially fun. Another group from HTM 485 previously visited the center this semester, and we appreciate our HCC partnership!
