Ho'okipa Society Field Trip to Waikiki! Fourteen of our great HTM students joined the Sep. 19 Ho'okipa Society field trip to Hawaii's annual Global Tourism Summit at the convention center. Along with students from UH, HPA, and Kapiolani CC, they listened to great insights and advice from industry leaders, and then enjoyed the reception and trade show. Great afternoon!

Lundgrens Catch Up With Alum in Fiji. Steve and Marla Lundgren visited Fiji in August (after a productive visit to French Polynesia) to expand the HTM employer network and meet with program alumni. While visiting the Tanoa Waterfront hotel in Lautoka they spent time with Ashlyn Nair Naicker who graduated from the HTM program in 2007. After serving in several entry-level roles in housekeeping, front desk, and food and beverage, Ashlyn was given the opportunity to advance to Events Manager. When the hotel went through some organizational changes in 2011, Ashlyn's contributions were recognized with a promotion to Assistant Hotel Manager. This August she was asked to serve as the Hotel Manager with responsibility for the entire property. Bula Vinaka for representing the HTM program so well, and best wishes for future success!
